i know this is a man's world because sex sells.
because it is a mans world it is likely to stay that way.
the real solution will not come with women in power but rather with men in reality.

Do contemporary church movements contribute to emotionally dependent Christians?
Yes.
I was pondering some questions recently like:
Why are worship services so much more popular than prayer meetings?
Why do churches today seem so much more consumeristic than Christ centered?
Why is it that Christians seem more and more high maintenance in their spiritual needs?

I think for a long time there has been a chasm forming in the mind of western Christians that separates spiritual activities and aspiritual activities. In this dichotomy Christians evaluate the former from the ladder on an emotional relevancy basis. Hymns, for example which not often sung emotionally, retain very little spiritual benefit. You will hear people say, 'that song just didn't do it for me' or 'i just couldn't get into the worship today.' Worship services have thus evolved to fit this new generation of consumeristic high maintenance Christian with dimmed light and loud music to simulate a elevated emotional worship experience. Charismatic preaching, intense visual media, and dramatic altar calls, have similar affects on the Christian church experience. I do not think any of these things are heretical or bad but the danger remain when Christians closely associate the spiritual aspects of their lives with highly emotional atmospheres of worship. The danger is when Christians have trouble being alone with God, when their Christianity is fighting for it's life in the lows between conferences or retreats, when Christians leave churches because of the music. The alternative is a holistically spiritual Christian. A Christian who is always interacting with God. A Christians who sees the need for God in every aspect of life, that is a Christian who can worship God free from the dependency on emotionalism.

small unimportant vent

I am usually more about recycling than conserving but in the case of gasoline and oil I have some questions/solutions.
I found an article of Motor Madness on the internet that said that car in Nascar 250-mile races average around 2 miles a gallon. The article claimed that over the course of a season the sport will consume roughly 200 million gallons of gas. Another shocking thing I found in the article is that Nascar cars are exempt from pollution controls. Add on top of this how dangerous the sport and I think the sum may trump the entertainment of the sport and the job market it provides. The sport is wasting gas, killing the planet, and endangering its participants. I admit that I am bias and that I think the sport is boring, but there has got to be a better use for all those resources.

I am more Patriotic than I sound

Most Americans are too ignorant to vote. They are uninformed voters that turn into dissatisfied citizens. This goes out to all the people who asked for change but did not know what that meant. This is the first time in the country history that some people have a chance to get help, but it seems the majority is not willing to sacrifice. The truth is we did not know enough about our old president. The truth is democracies my not be best for societies based tribalism. The truth is that the media does not always tell you the truth, the whole truth or nothing but the truth. The truth is what is best for this country may not necessarily be what you think is best for you. Ignorance was bliss but there no time left to reminisce.

Was Jesus 'seeker friendly'? Was He popular? Was He afraid of rejection?
Did He go to a church with a coffee shop? (just kidding) (but no He didn't.)

Was He tolerant? Did He let people walk away? Did He condemn? Was He confusing?

Was Jesus counter cultural? Is Jesus' way of teaching out of date? Is his discipleship method?

Is Jesus a guide, example, model for Christianity? What does it mean to be a follower of Christ?

Atheism is the rejection of God. If there is no God then their cannot logically be anything divine. If you deny God then you in essence deny anything supernatural. No atheist can deny God and yet accept immortality. Atheism is the admission humanity is the extent of life. Atheists therefore cannot legitimate a human soul.
Rejection implies that something exists (at least as an idea) but is being denied as fact. Atheists start by rejecting and therefore the burden of proof lies on them. No atheist can deny the idea of God. They must therefore prove that this is nothing more than an idea. The challenge of proving that a noun remain nothings more than a mental creation or figment lies on the atheists back. They question what generations of humans have assumed and believed to be true. They have not sufficiently proven anything thus far except man ability to deny and reject.

religion

A religion without faith is a Godless religion. Rather it is the culmination of depraved humanity who cannot see past themselves. A religion that relies more on works than faith is a religion where men vain attempt to makes themselves better out of their own merit. This is the result of people seeing sin as only a human problem, with only earthly ramifications. The truth is the great problem with sin involve the divine ramifications, which is a problem no sinful man can fix. That is why their is nothing more futile than mans attempt to save himself.

Islam and the Trinity

I caught a taxi the other day as I was coming back to campus from the train station. And within 1 minuet of my saying that I was going to Moody, he had me engaged in a debate about the Trinity. He referenced Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 10:18, John 17, and a couple other passages with very impressive speed. I gave an interpretation of each that he found unsatisfactory. And as he continued I realized the issue was not the Trinity. He had faith in Islam. I had faith in Jesus. If the Islam had a trinity, their would be other differences to focus on. The problem is that Islam is not Christianity. But a logical debate on interpretation between two people of faith is a futile thing. My taxi driver got the last word and he used to in his mind prove the illigitamacy of Christ. And we both left the conversation completely unmoved on the issue, and a little frusterated at the eachothers stubburness. I thanked God for the Holy Spirit, who is fully God, and who is the only one who can get to that mans heart.

American Theology

Western Biblical Interpretation has two great flaws that reveal themselves in application. The first and most talked about fallacy is generally found in Bible studies and youth group amongst lay theologians. I call it the Meology interpretation. These people see all parts of scripture as directly prescriptive to their daily lives. Instead of seeing stories that reveal the greatness of God, they look for to do lists so that they can be better Christians.
However, I think the second group is much more dangerous, and it is present in educated theological circles. Western Biblical Interpretation is becoming unhealthily good at finding differences between current and biblical context, which continues to weaken their application of God's mandates to early believers. They put to much weight on the cultural significance of the scriptures, and then in light of the cultural differences today dismiss parts of scripture with the mentality that "times have changed." When the church can justify homosexuality it must consider again how inerrant and sovereign the scriptures really are.

You must equate you ability to grow as completely dependant on your ability to learn. Therefore let learning not only reveal information previously unknown to you. Let it also greater expand the chasm between your 'are' and your 'were' while at the same time ensuring you growth is accompanied by change from ignorance and childish behaviors. Do not by any means resist growing up for contentment in ignorance is rebellion again truth. Knowledge brings responsibility.
